This year's harvest exceeded all expectations for our youthful vineyard. A warm spring led to an early June fruit set providing for exceptionally long hang time. The result was intensely ripe fruit. In addition, unusually cold September nights produced incredibly dark and inky colors during fermentation. Friends and family from as far away as Colorado came to Parsonage Village Vineyard to help with the harvest. Over a period of twenty-five days, small sections of the vineyard were harvested just as the fruit attained perfect ripeness.

The intensely complex, low-yield upper hillside Syrah ripened first while the lower bench Syrah produced slightly higher yields with bright and powerful berry flavors. When blended they will create an intensely fruity and complex package. The Cabernet, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Malbec which make up our Cabernet Sauvignon, were just as spectacular as the Syrah. The Merlot and Cabernet contributed lush cherry- berry-sage elements. The Malbec provided richer texture and a deeper magenta hue while the Petite Verdot added a lavender-blueberry note to the nose.
